The Organisation

Lifeline Australia is a national suicide prevention charity providing all Australians experiencing emotional distress with access to 24-hour crisis support and suicide prevention services. They are committed to empowering Australians to be suicide-safe through connection, compassion, and hope.

Lifeline exists to ensure that “no person in Australia has to face their darkest moments alone” and this is achieved through a partnership of over 10,000 committed volunteers and their member centres in communities across the nation.

The Role

It is due to the recent and ongoing success of Lifeline Australia that they are seeking a Campaigns and Community Manager to join their team in a brand-new role that will lead and manage the development, project management and implementation of Lifeline’s public awareness, advocacy and fundraising campaigns, delivering strategic and impact marketing and digital solutions.

This position plays a key role in the execution of Lifeline’s National Marketing and Fundraising plan and works to ensure effective engagement and audience development strategies are delivered to build the brand and reputation of Lifeline, its services as well as bring general awareness to suicide and mental health which will in turn drive participation, engagement, and overall revenue growth.

This role will be operating at a high-level so the ideal candidate must be able to think and work strategically but at the same time needs to be comfortable in rolling up their sleeves to work at an operational level. As this is a people management role prior experience in leading teams is required. Strong project management experience coupled with skills in managing multiple stakeholders is also essential for success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategy, development and implementation of Lifeline’s Signature, Third Party and Community Fundraising campaigns
  • Lead and support the delivery of key sector wide marketing and awareness campaigns, optimising Lifeline’s involvement and leveraged value
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Stakeholder Relations, and Fundraising team on donor engagement projects, including website and digital ads
  • Identify and build relationships with key internal stakeholders
  • Oversee preparation of annual campaign budgets
  • Lead in the development and implementation of campaign planning documents including project plans, fundraising and stewardship plans and donor journeys for campaigns
  • Work with the Database and Supporter Services team to conduct in depth analysis of campaign program and data selection criteria
  • Lead and deliver marketing research, analysis, and assessment of trends to maintain competitive advantage and relevance of brand in key marketing
  • Enhance creative strategies for supporter campaigns ensuring opportunities to develop loyalty and increased donations
  • Manage and liaise with agencies and suppliers to ensure campaigns and materials are to brief, to budget and meet deadlines
  • Work with National Manager, Media Relations, Government and Stakeholder Relations to create effective and compelling donor communications to inspire donors to donate
  • Motivate and manage team members on delivery and implantation of campaigns to achieve and exceed monthly targets

Skills and Attributes

  • Prior experience working in marketing, communication or similar leadership role
  • Proven strategic knowledge and experience in the creation and delivery of brand campaigns, peer-to-peer / brand fundraising campaigns
  • Strategic and creative thinker with exceptional execution and an ability to balance being hands-on and resourceful working within a small team
  • Experience using analytics software and the ability to interpret, analyse and report on data
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills
  • Experience in leading a team with diverse skills to produce high quality work
  • Outstanding organisational and planning skills
  • Excellent time management skills to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines at the same time
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to influence, negotiate and build rapport to facilitate trusting and credible relationships internally and externally
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, complex environment with high volume of daily activities
  • A genuine passion and resilience to work for a leading mental health charity
