Located on the lands of the Bidiagal Clan of the Dharawal Nation (Randwick, NSW), Black Dog Institute is the only Medical Research Institute in Australia to investigate mental health across the lifespan, our aim is to create a mentally healthier world for everyone. For the past 20 years, we have been at the forefront of mental health research. Our work is used to drive evidence informed change across the rapidly expanding mental health sector and sets the foundations for a brighter and healthier future for all.

The Role

We're looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Paid Media Officer to support the delivery of high-performing digital advertising campaigns across paid search, paid social, and emerging digital platforms.

Reporting to the Paid Media Manager, you'll play an important role in planning, launching, monitoring, and optimising campaigns that support research recruitment, fundraising, and program engagement. This is an exciting opportunity for someone early in their digital marketing career who is eager to grow their expertise in paid media while contributing to meaningful work that creates real social impact. 

Duties & Responsibilities

Support Digital Advertising Campaigns

  • Assist with the planning, setup, and delivery of campaigns across platforms such as Meta Ads Manager, Google Ads, LinkedIn Ads, and other digital channels.
  • Develop and implement ad copy and creative variations aligned with brand guidelines and campaign objectives.
  • Monitor campaign performance and contribute to ongoing optimisation activities.
  • Help identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement using campaign data. 

Create Digital Content and Assets

  • Develop simple promotional assets and creative variations using Canva and other design tools.
  • Support video content creation and editing where required.
  • Ensure creative assets meet platform specifications and brand standards.
  • Create and update web pages supporting marketing and fundraising campaigns. 

Reporting and Insights

  • Prepare campaign reports and contribute insights on performance and audience engagement.
  • Assist with dashboards and reporting frameworks to track results.
  • Support campaign planning and scheduling activities across multiple channels.

Collaborate Across Teams

  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to coordinate assets, timelines, and campaign requirements.
  • Assist with workflow management, campaign scheduling, and administrative processes.
  • Help improve internal processes, documentation, and best-practice approaches

Skills & Experience Required

Essential

  • Approximately 1–2 years' experience in digital marketing, paid media, or social media advertising.
  • Experience or familiarity with platforms such as Meta Ads Manager and/or Google Ads.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Analytical skills and confidence working with campaign performance data.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Well-organised, collaborative, and proactive approach to work.
  • Experience using Canva or similar design platforms.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.

Desirable

  • Interest in, or commitment to, mental health and wellbeing.
  • Experience working in health, research, or not-for-profit environments.
  • Video editing skills.
  • Experience using Jira, Confluence, or similar project management tools.
