Reporting to the CEO, AVI is seeking a passionate, experienced and skilled Research & Practice Coordinator to lead evidence based best practice in international volunteering for development, as well as support new business development.

This is a full-time permanent role which can be based either in Fitzroy, Melbourne or Suva, Fiji with occasional international and interstate travel.

To be successful in this role you will have the demonstrated depth of experience and skills to develop and lead research and development activities for AVI. You will be personable, consultative and team oriented and have:

  • Strong cross-cultural awareness and understanding of international development issues
  • More than 5 years’ experience in facilitation and working as part of research committees
  • More than 5 years’ experience in delivering research into practices to support business development opportunities to AVI
  • Contemporary knowledge of best practice into climate action
  • The ability to assist with international research as a member of FORUMs RPPL group
  • The demonstrated ability to produce materials and information to position, advocate, and improve international volunteering for development
  • Presentation and public speaking skills at conferences
  • Advanced stakeholder management skills including working with government agencies
