About the Role

Our specialised multi-disciplinary team in Cairns has an exciting opportunity for a qualified, committed and passionate Psychologist to work with individuals on the autism spectrum and their families. This role has primary responsibility for delivering centre-based and outreach services, group and individual intervention programs which are responsive to the needs of each client and their family.  Ongoing support to members of the Cairns team to ensure appropriate service delivery and utilisation of current, evidence-based interventions also forms part of this role.

This role is offered on a permanent full-time basis, although part-time will be considered for the right candidate. The anticipated start date would be January 2021.

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Psychology and minimum provisional registration with AHPRA 
  • Proven knowledge and understanding of positive behaviour support and evidence-based practice principles
  • Knowledge of psychometric and educational assessment practice and procedures for individuals with autism
  • Knowledge and experience of a range of intervention strategies e.g. CBT, ACT, Play therapy, Art therapy 
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a trans-disciplinary team
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with parents, professionals and other stakeholders, both verbally and in writing
  • Experience working with children and families living with autism is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of Mindfulness, trauma-informed practices, developmental psychology and mental health
