Wanted: an information management champion to save endangered wildlife.
Australian Wildlife Conservancy (AWC), the world’s largest private (non-profit) owner of land for conservation, needs an information management champion – someone motivated by a desire to protect Australia’s endangered wildlife by helping develop and manage a best practice information management and knowledge sharing system that will support AWC operations in places like the Kimberley, Cape York, the Top End and central Australia.
Reporting to the Chief Information Technology Officer, the Information Management Officer will be part of an integrated support team delivering finance, HR and ICT services across the organisation. This position is a six-month contract with the possibility of an extension. The core responsibilities of this role include:
AWC’s central IM system is its intranet (SharePoint), supported by a suite of applications for operational planning and reporting, survey data collection and a media library. The ideal candidate will be the “champion” of these systems, promoting their use and application as a critical step in building an exciting new model for conservation.
The Information Management Officer is the human face of AWC’s IM environment. Accordingly, the ideal candidate will combine their strength in communication and interpersonal skills with a passion for saving Australia’s wildlife and landscapes. You will play an important role in the delivery of effective conservation by ensuring field staff are equipped to contribute and discover information used to support operations; promoting the use of innovative technology that helps transform conservation; and ensuring information flows freely from the field to central office and ultimately to our supporters.
