The successful candidate will be responsible for producing captivating content to inspire and engage audiences: content that cuts through the noise and stirs people to act.

The role requires strong journalistic and production skills, an understanding and passion for our subject matter, and an eye for detail. In a typical week, you may be researching articles for With You magazine, designing infographics for social channels, or working with colleagues around the world to identify and tell real-life refugee stories.

Main responsibilities

Reporting to the Content Manager, the Content Coordinator will:

  • Source, gather and shape content to support communication and fundraising activities.
  • Support production of in-house publications including biannual ‘With You’ magazine, Annual Reports, and monthly enews.
  • Support Communications and Public Affairs team in developing creative concepts and content for the website, social media, media and so on.
  • Stay abreast of communication trends and activities (including partner and competitor organisations’ channels), and identify new ways or opportunities to tell captivating stories.
  • Contribute to content performance reporting, review and planning, including specific performance of content assets, emails and so on.
  • Manage in-house image library, including approving content uploads and other administrative tasks.
  • Ensure content fits style, brand and tone guidelines and is up-to-date and accurate.

What we are looking for

The successful application will have:

  • A minimum three years’ experience in journalism, communications or humanitarian work, with experience producing creative content for a variety of digital and print media including the social media cycle.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for gathering information, identifying story leads and interviewing people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Advanced English writing and editing skills, with the ability to craft engaging stories for a variety of channels and audiences.
  • Exemplary time management skills and attention to detail, with the ability to take a brief and work to deadlines, sometimes under pressure.

Australia for UNHCR embraces diversity, inclusion and equal opportunity. We recognise the value of a diverse workforce and the creation of inclusive workforce cultures. We welcome applications from people with diverse experiences and cultural backgrounds, including migrants and former refugees.

Please note we are unable to respond to recruitment agency enquiries. This is a permanent, full-time position. Applicants must be an Australian citizen/permanent resident or have a suitable visa that allows permanent full-time work in Australia, in order to apply for this position. A working-holiday visa is not appropriate.
