About the role

The Lead – Recovery will provide critical leadership in the coordination and development of the Red Cross’s National Emergency Services recovery program. This role will have a strong focus on continuing to develop a national approach to and building capacity of the organisation in disaster recovery. This includes coordinating nationally consistent post disaster recovery operations across all States and Territories. The role will guide the development of recovery capacity building, resources that promote international and national best practice and improve operational tools around the country.

What you will bring

• High level understanding of emergency management, particularly in preparedness and recovery
• Sound understanding of mental health needs and issues during and after disasters
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically and provide leadership to contribute to service planning and program outcomes
• Highly developed organisational skills with a proven ability to determine priorities and deliver outcomes
• Demonstrated ability to contribute to program-wide effectiveness, accountability and learning in a multi-site organisation
• Strong relationship-building and influencing skills, with both internal and external stakeholders
