We have a great opportunity to join our amazing Employment Services team at ASC. We are looking for an Employment Coordinator who will provide support to people seeking asylum in achieving their employment and education goals. You will be working alongside a wonderful team of staff and volunteers, developing strong partnerships with employment, education and industry partners.
This role is full-time, based in Newtown on a fixed term contract of up to 12 months. There is the possibility of this contract being extended.
Responsibilities
- Support the operation of the Employment Service, including initial client assessment, inbox management and one-on-one Employment Hub sessions.
- Case manage a number of clients, collaborating to develop employment and education plans and achieve employment goals using a person-centred, strengths-based approach
- Identify education, training and job opportunities for clients, track progress and follow up on outcomes
- Train and support volunteers to provide strength based and culturally sensitive support to clients and stay up to date with education and job opportunities
- Develop strong relationship with the broader ASC team, education and employment partners to improve client outcomes
- Work with the team across programs including Asylum Seeker Employment Skills Support (ASESS), University & Education and the Employment Virtual Assistant
- Maintain and keep up to date data on CIVI CRM, Salesforce and Google Workspace
Selection Criteria
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following.
Essential
- Experience in human resources, community development, education or employment services
- Work from a trauma informed, strength based approach - listen to, engage with, support, and learn from people with complex needs
- Ability to motivate, support and inspire people seeking asylum and volunteers
- A strong understanding of the issues affecting people seeking asylum
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, written and oral skills
- Demonstrated organisational skills, including timely recording of activities on CRMs
- An energetic, positive attitude and and a commitment to learning and improvement
- Experience communicating with and gaining support from external stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships
- Ability to adapt effectively to change
Desirable
- Lived experience as a refugee or person seeking asylum
- Experience working with people seeking asylum, refugees and/or migrant communities
- Knowledge of Vocational and Education Training including Smart & Skilled Program and English Language Programs
- Experience delivering outcome based programs, e.g. ASESS
- Knowledge of different professional industries
- Knowledge of Corporate Social Responsibility and/or Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, human resources, psychology, social work, or humanitarian areas
