The successful applicant will organise across a variety of industries including, clerical, administrative, customer service, airline, legal, call centre, and NGO sector workers.
The successful applicant will be responsible for organising and developing collectivism in the workplace by identifying, leading, motivating and educating workplace representatives, activists and members.
This is a permanent full-time position.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Identifying organising and recruitment opportunities in existing or new workplaces.
- Recruiting members to the union and increasing union density in the workplace.
- Planning organising activities in the workplace.
- Supporting members to campaign, negotiate and act collectively in order to resolve workplace issues.
- Working with other Branch officials, Delegates and members on organising and industrial campaigns.
- Assisting members with industrial inquiries and issues.
- Attending worksites across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria as required.
REQUIRED ATTRIBUTES
- Experience in working for a union or equivalent organising role in another campaigning organisation preferred.
- Commitment to the trade union movement and to community activism.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of modern organising methods, recruitment of members, and campaigning.
- Ability to show initiative and work with limited supervision and be self-motivated.
- Ability to exercise judgement and resolve problems quickly.
- Able to advise members on Awards, Agreements and industrial legislation in general.
- Great verbal and written communication skills, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work to deadlines and competing priorities.
- Demonstrated skills and proficiency with relevant computer programs.
To perform the Organiser position, you will also be required to have or obtain a current Victorian Driver’s License and be eligible for a right of entry permit.
BENEFITS
- Salary range of $83,000- $95,600 for entry level Organisers, or $99,000 - $112,500 for experienced Organisers.
- 16% superannuation.
- Monthly rostered days off (RDO).
- 25% annual leave loading.
- Generous leave entitlements, including gifted days off between Christmas and New Year.
- Requests for 0.8FTE part-time work will be considered.
