The Australian Services Union NSW & ACT (Services) Branch (ASU) is seeking to employ an Industrial Officer with at least one year’s experience in a similar role, who shares our values and is ready to support ASU members in securing fair pay, safe working conditions, and resolving workplace issues.

Our members work across:
- Community services: NDIS, child youth and family services, community legal services, migrant and refugee support services, local neighbourhood centres and more
- Public services: Transport and water
- Private sector: Airlines, travel, IT
Key Responsibilities
- Represent members in workplace disputes and grievances.
- Prepare and present matters in industrial tribunals, with assistance.
- Provide members with industrial advice and advocacy.
- Support campaigns and contribute to broader union goals.
- Apply relevant legislation and sector-specific frameworks (e.g. NDIS Code of Conduct).
- Conduct industrial research and negotiations.
- Collaborate with Organisers and contribute to member engagement.

- Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Are empathetic, detail-oriented, and resilient under pressure.
- Understand industrial relations and have advocacy experience in industrial tribunals.

- Have a working knowledge of organising principles.
Conditions
- Full time, 35 hours per week.
- $97,506 to $120,127 per annum dependent on skills and experience.
- Redfern or Penrith based – close to public transport. Note: there may be a requirement to work in other ASU offices from time to time.
- 12.5% superannuation.
- 17.5% annual leave loading.
- 12 rostered days off (RDOs) per year.
- 4 weeks annual leave plus Christmas shutdown leave.
- 6 months paid parental leave.
