We are looking for a Digital Communications Officer to join our team for 12 months for a fixed term parental leave position (commencing in January 2026).
About the Role
As one of two Digital Communications Officers, you'll work with our graphic designer and play a key role in shaping how we communicate with members, potential members, and the broader community. We need your help with improving and maintaining our website, creating and managing social media, crafting and sending regular EDMs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create compelling communication content that reflects the values and priorities of the ASU.
- Assist with the creation and management of social media content to grow our presence and engagement.
- Assist with email marketing campaigns and digital outreach.
- Support website updates and maintain content across digital platforms.
- Collaborate with internal teams to promote the full range of ASU activities, campaigns, and member benefits.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
- Demonstrated experience creating and managing content for social media.
- Experience with website maintenance.
- Experience with email marketing tools.
- Strong writing, editing and visual communication skills.
- A demonstrated commitment to trade unionism and the values of the ASU.
BONUS SKILLS (not essential but great to have)
- Experience with HTML or CSS.
- Experience in video editing.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite.
- Familiarity with analytics tools for measuring communication impact.
- Previous experience working in a union, advocacy, or non-profit environment.
CONDITIONS
- Full time, 35 hours per week.
- Commencing salary $97,506 pa plus 12.5% superannuation.
- Redfern based – close to public transport.
- 17.5% annual leave loading.
- 12 RDOs per year.
- 4 weeks annual leave plus Christmas shutdown.
