We are seeking compassionate, resilient, and motivated Mental Health Support Workers who are committed to walking alongside people in their recovery journey and making a genuine difference in their lives.
About the Role
As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will provide person-centred, recovery-focused support tailored to each participant’s goals, strengths, and individual support needs.
This role involves supporting participants to build independence, increase community engagement, develop daily living skills, and enhance overall wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide emotional, practical, and recovery-oriented support to people living with psychosocial disability
- Support participants with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, household tasks, and routine building
- Assist participants to engage with their community, attend appointments, and achieve personal goals
- Implement individual support plans in collaboration with participants, families, and multidisciplinary care teams
- Maintain accurate documentation, progress notes, and incident reporting in line with organisational and NDIS requirements
- Promote participant dignity, choice, independence, and social inclusion
- Work collaboratively with allied health professionals, support coordinators, families, and other stakeholders
- Contribute to a safe, respectful, and strengths-based support environment
- Participate in ongoing professional development and reflective practice
About You
We are looking for individuals who are empathetic, adaptable, and passionate about mental health and recovery-focused support.
Essential Requirements
- Certificate IV in Mental Health, Community Services, Peer Work, Disability, AOD, or a related field OR
- Demonstrated equivalent industry experience within mental health, psychosocial disability, or community support settings
- Experience supporting individuals with mental health challenges, psychosocial disability, or complex behaviours
- Confidence supporting participants with personal care and daily living assistance
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including shorter shifts when required
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Current Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- Current First Aid & CPR certification
- Valid Australian Driver’s Licence and access to a reliable, insured vehicle
Highly Regarded
- Lived experience of mental health recovery or caring for someone with mental health difficulties
- Understanding of recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and person-centred practice
- Mental Health First Aid certification
- Experience supporting individuals with behaviours of concern and restrictive practices
- Students currently studying Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, Occupational Therapy, or related disciplines are strongly encouraged to apply, as this role provides valuable practical experience that complements your studies
