About the role

Foodbank Volunteers work in a team of Community Food Program volunteers to support people seeking asylum to access essential food and groceries. Our Foodbank enables people seeking asylum to choose food and other essentials for themselves and their families. The Foodbank shop reflects a retail environment that reduces barriers to accessing food with volunteers providing customer service and stock management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcoming and engaging people seeking asylum as they enter the shop
  • Assisting people seeking asylum while shopping, providing an excellent customer service experience
  • Replenishing food and goods on shelves and maintaining attractive shop displays
  • Maintaining a welcoming, clean and safe environment which complies to COVID Safeguidelines
  • Packing bulk goods into small bags, sorting fresh fruit and vegetables and receiving donations.

Volunteer shifts

We are looking for a commitment of 1 shift per week, ideally for 12 months. Shifts are available Monday, Wednesday & Friday 10am - 3.30pm at the Refugee Resource Hub in Dandenong.

There are no shifts outside of business hours.
