Founded 19 years ago, the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) is Australia’s largest human rights organisation providing support to people seeking asylum. We are an independent not-for-profit organisation whose programs support and empower people seeking asylum to maximise their own physical, mental and social well being. We champion the rights of people seeking asylum and mobilise a community of compassion to create lasting social and policy change.

About The Role

Reporting to the Immunisation Coordinator, the Nurse Immuniser will be responsible for running immunisations sessions to vaccinate clients and provide other related nurse immunisation services at the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre.

The Nurse Immuniser will assist the Clinic Coordinator and the team of volunteer Nurse Immunisers to provide safe vaccination of adults, against a range of vaccine preventable diseases. You will need to demonstrate significant experience in working with healthcare professionals and organisations. Your role requires an excellent knowledge and understanding of the current immunisation schedule and practices.

About You

As a Division 1, registered nurse with previous experience in a similar role, you will possess the following skills and qualities:

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality immunisation services
  • Sound knowledge of immunisation practice and procedures including management of adverse events following immunisation
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and cooperatively in a team environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiarity with practice software preferably Medical Director, Pracsoft and Australian Immunisation Registers.

Some knowledge of, or experience in, understanding of the policy context of practice with asylum seekers would be advantageous for this position.
