ARDS Aboriginal Corporation has been working with Yolŋu communities in north-east Arnhem Land for 50 years. We are led by Senior Yolŋu. Our vision is for Yolŋu to engage with the Balanda world as equals. We try to help Yolŋu to be strong in Yolŋu culture, and strong in understanding Balanda culture. We learn from each other and try to work in Yolŋu ways.
ARDS’ Yolŋu Language and Culture Archive is a collection of Yolŋu language recordings, songlines, radio programs, books, education resources and other materials that have amassed over ARDS’ 50-year history. The archive project commenced in 2025 and is now at the stage of sharing it with Yolŋu communities and engaging community in testing and giving feedback on the archive.
This role is designed around facilitating this important stage of the project and continuing to build the archive. The role is Darwin based with regular travel to remote Northeast Arnhem communities to carry out community consultations.
This part-time role is for 18 hours per week.
