We’re looking for a People & Culture Advisor who wants to help create an employee experience where people feel supported, welcomed, appreciated, and encouraged to grow.

Why this role matters

With a growing organisation we are introducing a new role. You’ll be joining at a time of positive change — with the chance to help shape our People & Culture function, strengthen manager capability, and support the wellbeing and experience of our people.

You’ll be the trusted, friendly point of contact for HR — someone employees feel comfortable approaching and managers value partnering with.

What you’ll be doing

You will be the front face of our People and culture team with experience and knowledge of HR and other workforce areas. You will develop and contribute to the culture of the organisation and support our teams through employment experience.

People Support & HR Advice

  • Be the warm, practical first point of contact for HR queries
  • Coach and support managers on day-to-day people matters
  • Support managers with employee relations matters including performance conversations and low‑level investigations
  • Award and policy interpretation

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Lead recruitment end-to-end — creating a great candidate experience
  • Prepare contracts, coordinate onboarding and ensure new starters feel welcome
  • Maintain talent pipelines and build sourcing channels.

Culture, Wellbeing & Engagement

  • Lead recognition programs (e.g., Shine Awards, Long Service Awards)
  • Contribute to wellbeing, inclusion and engagement initiatives
  • Engage with staff around culture and workforce issues and advice

Learning & Growth

  • Coordinate training sessions, maintain records, track compliance
  • Support performance reviews and development planning

HR Operations; Compliance, Systems, Data & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain and improve HRIS data and reporting
  • Support HR projects, policy development and process improvements
  • Legislative compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Assist with WorkCover, RTW plans and wellbeing‑related compliance tasks.

This is a role where your organisational skills, people skills, and heart will shine.

About you

You’ll fit right in if you’re someone who has:

  • 3+ years’ experience in a generalist HR advisory role
  • Warm, people-centred and great at building trust
  • Organised and proactive — you love bringing order to busy environments
  • Confident giving HR advice and supporting managers
  • Strong knowledge of Australian workplace legislation, employee relations and HR best practice
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to work with stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant HR systems and reporting experience
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Keen to improve processes and make things smoother for everyone
  • Comfortable handling sensitive matters with care and professionalism
  • Proud to role-model Araluen’s values every day

Experience in disability, NFP or community services is helpful but not essential — what matters most is your approach, empathy and willingness to learn. A qualification in HR, Business, Industrial Relations or similar is desirable, but we welcome applicants with equivalent experience who can demonstrate capability in this role.
