Finance and Administration Officer

Animals Australia

Animals Australia works tirelessly to protect the most abused and defenseless animals in our society. Our award-winning national campaigns and unique investigative work have awakened millions to the cruel practices of factory farming, live animal export and live baiting in the greyhound industry, while pressuring industry and government to take much needed action. Each victory for animals is underpinned by a strong and proactive supporter base.

The Role

Our vision to create a kinder, more compassionate and respectful world for all living beings is bold and ambitious. To achieve this vision we need to inspire changed thinking about our relationship with animals on a global scale. Working in this space we encourage a learning mindset at all levels of the organisation, across all roles.

In this role you will be the unsung hero, ensuring things run smoothly and seamlessly. You will provide outstanding all-round administrative support that helps the organisation operate efficiently and continuously improve. This includes working closely with the Finance Manager and Finance Officer (and other members of the team) to:

  • complete all financial processes in line with statutory, regulatory, policy and procedural requirements
  • maintain office systems, security and equipment
  • assist with managing suppliers, scheduling meetings and associated logistics
  • embrace ad-hoc administrative support tasks that come your way

Skills Required:

You thrive delivering great administrative support that anticipates stakeholder needs and welcome the opportunity to help those around you to do what they need to. Importantly you can show:

  • An alignment to our vision and values
  • Excellent customer service, communication and relationship building skills
  • Initiative – you’re a self-starter; always looking for ways to optimise processes; and highly organised enabling you to balance your regular work with unexpected priorities – and deliver to deadlines
  • Attention to detail
  • Comfortable with technology & software particularly Excel and the MS Suite

Understanding of the Not-for-Profit sector, and a relevant qualification (completed or undertaking) will help you stand out.

What can Animals Australia offer you:

Aside from the opportunity to bring about real change for animals, we offer:

  • A fun, supportive, and hardworking environment
  • Generous leave provisions including Companion Animal Carer’s and Compassionate leave
  • Flexibility! Note that we’re currently working fully/almost entirely remotely
  • Wellbeing Program including a customised Employee Assistance Program, discounted private health insurance and Wellbeing Leave
  • A commitment to personal and professional development
