• Full time fixed term role until 31st of Jan 2025, SCHCADS level 3

Your role:

A Youth Mentor works with clients within the out of home care sector, they act as a positive role model in supporting young people to engage in pro-social activities and to assist in the development of independent life and living skills. As a Youth Mentor, you will work closely with case managers and the care team to help provide the best outcomes for our young people.

Some of the general tasks include:

• Working with case managers to support and maintain placement.
• Transporting young people to school and/or appointments.
• Working with young people to set, develop and work towards their own goals.
• Supporting care givers.
• Provide creative respite to placement through outreach and linking in with community activities.
• Creating positive memories for children in care.

About you:

• Ability to engage well over the phone and in person.
• Strong communication skills, the ability to listen and take detailed notes.
• Experience or knowledge of Best Interest Principles as outlined within the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005.
• A commitment to working with vulnerable children young people and families who have experienced trauma .

Qualifications:

• Certificate IV in Community Services or Child, Youth and Family Intervention or Youth Work or similar.
• Full Victorian Drivers Licence.

Desirable:

• Diploma in Community Services, Youth Services or similar.

• The hourly rate for the role is $38.42
• SCHCADS level 3.2
• Plus super and access to salary packaging which will increase your take home pay for this role.
• Office location: Dandenong with outreach across the southeast
• You must have a drivers license.
• Pool cars available for you to use.
