Your role

We are looking for experienced Step by Step Foster Care Assessors to support our Home Based Care teams on a casual basis to conduct assessments of prospective carers. This will include the preparation of written assessment reports with recommendations as appropriate and providing assessment reports to the Carer Review and Accreditation Panel.

The role will be as required on a casual basis and working directly with the region that needs additional support.

The work will be online, but you may be required to conduct interviews outside of business hours to accommodate and complete the assessment. When required you may need to attend Accreditation Panel meetings to present applications. 

The skills you will use day to day

• You are experienced in the assessment of prospective Home Base Carers, including the preparation of written assessment reports with recommendations as appropriate and providing assessment reports to the Carer Review and Accreditation Panel.
• Have the ability to effectively manage workloads through effective time management
• Have well-developed engagement skills and the ability to undertake competency-based assessments.
• Can communicate effectively with a range of people, including children, caregivers and stakeholders both written and verbal.
• Understand the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing with a particular emphasis on the Child Protection function and legislation. 
• Understand the complex needs of children and young people in Out of Home Care.

Qualifications

Required:

• A Diploma of Community Services, Youth Services or similar and
• Registration with ACWA to conduct Step by Step 2020 assessments in Victoria.
