Based on the understanding that together we have a shared responsibility to care for people in need, our Parish Partnerships team works with Anglican parishes and communities across metropolitan and regional Victoria to develop and deliver a broad range of program supporting local community needs.  Our large team of employees and volunteers offer emergency relief and food programs, material aid services, financial counselling and homeless support services together and a range of youth engagement programs and activities.

Your role:

In this role you will work as part of our homeless support team at the Lazarus Centre Breakfast Program at St Peters Eastern Hill. You will be part of a small team of employees and volunteers that provide meals and daily support to a large number of people that experience primary and secondary homelessness. Our program runs from 7am until 10am, 7 days a week. This is a part-time role, Monday to Friday. Five additional hours are also available on a Monday or Friday at the Homeless Support Team's other location, St Mark's Community Centre, where we run a drop-in service. 

 The skills you will use day to day:

  • Your experience in the community services field relevant to the role, particularly in relation to homelessness and mental health.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with both clients and volunteers.
  • Well-developed time management skills.

To Be Successful in this Position You Will Need:

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and to offer leadership and encouragement to volunteers.
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice principles and supporting people from all backgrounds.
  • Competent written communication skills.
  • Effective communication skills, including conflict management skills and negotiation skills.
  • Computer skills.
  • A commitment to supporting the health, safety and wellbeing of program participants and staff.

 All the details:

  • Permanent part time role (20 hours per week) working at the breakfast program Monday to Friday. 
  • Salary is around $71,000 per year (pro rata) plus super plus salary packaging (SCHADS 3.1).
  • Location is East Melbourne.
