Who are we looking for?

We are seeking an experienced practice leader to join our growing team in Foster Care Services. Your role as a Supervisor will be to coach and mentor a diverse team ensuring that children and young people are held at the centre of culturally safe and trauma informed care environments with Foster Carers. In this role you have an opportunity to influence and shape practice within your team and across the sector and to enhance opportunities for children and young people in care.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on, people centred leader with a passion for improving the quality of life for children and young people. The successful applicant will provide child centred, culturally safe leadership, practice direction and identify areas for service improvement, developing and supporting their team to have the knowledge and skills needed for their roles. 

What can you expect to be doing?

  • Provide formal and informal supervision to a team within Foster Care Services, ensuring that a culturally safe, child-centred and trauma informed approach is at the forefront of practice.
  • Guide practice, facilitate staff workloads and provide assistance when risks and complex client related issues are identified.
  • Review and provide feedback on key documents and assessments.
  • Propose, design and implement strategies, appropriate service responses, interventions, activities and events.

What do you need to bring?

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences or Community Services is essential
  • Demonstrable skills, knowledge and behaviours required to support and develop supervisees in culturally safe and child-centred practice
  • Knowledge of Child Protection and Out of Home Care systems and legislation including the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Placement Principles.
  • Experience working with families and children and young people in a community services setting
  • Ability to forge relationships, networks and liaise with other service agencies
  • Cert IV in Front Line Management is desirable
