Early Language & Literacy Trainer - Sydney / Work from Home

Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation

ABOUT ALNF

The Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation (ALNF) is a national charity dedicated to raising language, literacy and numeracy standards in Australia for vulnerable Australians.

ABOUT THE EARLY LANGUAGE AND LITERACY PROGRAM

“In over 25 years of teaching I have found [Early Language and Literacy] one of the

most practical and beneficial experiences both for student and teacher learning.”

- Classroom Teacher, Mid-North Coast NSW

ALNF’s flagship Early Language and Literacy (EL&L) program draws on best practice from speech and language pathology and education. It provides knowledge and practical strategies to support the development of foundational language and literacy skills to early childhood and early primary educators, allied professionals, parents and community members in remote, regional and urban communities.

For many years, ALNF has been entrusted to deliver training and other services to communities across the country as part of the EL&L program. We invite you to join ALNF’s team of EL&L trainers who work closely with local services providers, educators and parents in order to support children’s early language and literacy development.

EL&L training and mentoring builds capacity around the nationally accredited 11027NAT Certificate IV in Early Language and Literacy, with a strong focus on integrated practice to ensure that the EL&L strategies sit alongside and support existing programming and curriculum in response to children’s growth needs. This approach includes:

  • Training and mentoring in strategies to support children’s growth in pre-writing, pre-reading, pre-phonics, oral language and vocabulary development
  • A range of bespoke EL&L resources
  • Parent/carer workshops
  • Formative assessments of children’s oral language and literacy development and support with reflective practice based on actual evidence of children’s growth needs.

Our goal is to create communities of practice for those who work for children, with common skills, knowledge, resources and expert support to interrupt intergenerational educational disadvantage in vulnerable communities.
