Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation

At the Australian Literacy & Numeracy Foundation (ALNF), we believe literacy changes lives.

For more than 25 years, we've worked alongside First Nations, refugee and other underserved communities across Australia to help children, young people and adults develop the language, literacy and communication skills they need to thrive.

We're looking for an organised, creative and enthusiastic Communications, Partnerships and Fundraising Assistant to join our team.

This is a varied and rewarding role for someone who enjoys writing, building relationships, creating engaging content and bringing great ideas to life. You'll support ALNF's communications, fundraising and partnerships activities, helping us connect with supporters, celebrate impact and grow our community of partners.

You'll help coordinate campaigns, manage our social media channels, prepare communications and impact reports, support partner engagement, oversee volunteer activities and assist with fundraising initiatives that help create brighter futures through literacy.

You'll have the opportunity to contribute ideas, work collaboratively across the organisation and develop your skills in communications, fundraising and stakeholder engagement.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinate ALNF's social media channels, including planning, scheduling and publishing content.
  • Contribute ideas and content for campaigns that showcase ALNF's programs, partnerships and impact.
  • Draft social media posts, newsletters, supporter updates and other communications.
  • Monitor and respond to social media enquiries and messages.
  • Assist with website updates and digital communications.
  • Monitor social media performance and prepare regular analytics reports.
  • Support the planning and delivery of communications campaigns and organisational events.

Partnerships and Fundraising

  • Support the delivery of ALNF's partnerships and fundraising activities.
  • Assist in preparing partnership proposals, presentations and supporter communications.
  • Coordinate corporate volunteering activities and partner engagement opportunities.
  • Manage and oversee volunteer activities, ensuring volunteers have a positive and meaningful experience while supporting ALNF's programs and events.
  • Help maintain strong relationships with corporate, philanthropic and community supporters.
  • Prepare impact reports and updates for partners and donors.
  • Maintain accurate supporter records within our CRM.
  • Respond to partnership and fundraising enquiries.
  • Support fundraising campaigns, appeals and community fundraising initiatives.

Impact and Storytelling

  • Assist in collecting and analysing program outcome and impact data.
  • Contribute to the development of impact reports, case studies and success stories.
  • Work closely with program teams to gather participant feedback, outcomes and stories.
  • Support organisational reporting and evaluation activities.
  • Help demonstrate the impact created through ALNF's partnerships, fundraising and programs.

About you

You're a strong communicator who enjoys building relationships, thinking creatively and staying organised. You're proactive, adaptable and excited by the opportunity to contribute across a variety of projects.

You'll bring:

  • Experience in communications, fundraising, marketing, partnerships, stakeholder engagement or a similar role.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience creating or coordinating content for social media and digital platforms.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • Experience using Microsoft 365, CRM systems and social media platforms.
  • A collaborative approach, a willingness to learn and the confidence to contribute ideas.
  • A genuine commitment to ALNF's mission and values.

Experience working in the not for profit sector will be highly regarded but is not essential.

Why join ALNF?

When you join ALNF, you're joining a team that believes every person deserves the opportunity to develop the literacy skills that open doors to education, employment and lifelong opportunity.
