Programs Director

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and liaising with the AIEF leadership team, the Programs Director has overall responsibility for the delivery and implementation of the AIEF Scholarship Program and AIEF Pathways Program and all of the activities and initiatives under each of those programs.

The Programs Director ensures the highly efficient, effective and professional operation of AIEF’s programs, including responsibility for each of the following in conjunction with the CEO:

  1. supervision, support and management of program staff;
  2. partner school and tertiary college relationships;
  3. program-related policies and procedures;
  4. program-related strategies, submissions and proposals;
  5. program-related planning, risk-management and resource allocation;
  6. program-related reporting and evaluations;
  7. accuracy and completeness of student data;
  8. other relevant relationships with other stakeholders including government departments, corporates and non-profits;
  9. Scholarship Program distributions and acquittals; and
  10. Pathways Program events, programs and activities.

Key Skills, Knowledge and Experience

The right person for this role will:

  • be highly organised, hardworking, self-motivated and able to manage timelines and deliverables;
  • be an experienced manager with the ability to manage, lead and supervise staff;
  • have experience conceptualising, planning, delivering and evaluating programs and initiatives for young people;
  • be able to work effectively independent of others;
  • have excellent communication skills and an ability to liaise effectively and professionally with corporates, school staff and school students;
  • be pleasant, presentable and adept at communicating and building relationships with a diverse range of partners and stakeholders;
  • have experience working with Indigenous Australian people of all ages;
  • be thorough and accurate with a high level of attention to detail;be able to work in a highly professional and busy team environment;
  • be a quick learner who is enthusiastic and energetic;
  • be highly proficient in IT – including the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook;
  • be personally interested, passionate and committed to “Closing the Gap” through Indigenous education and employment; and
  • be enthusiastic about achieving positive outcomes for Indigenous Australian young people.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply.

Whilst not a mandatory requirement, it will be advantageous for all AIEF employees to have a drivers
license. Please indicate on your application whether or not you have a drivers license.

Prior experience in a not-for-profit organisation would be beneficial. This position is based in our Sydney office. Terms will be negotiated depending on the candidate. All AIEF staff are required to undergo ‘Working with Children Police Checks’ as a condition of employment.
