Your new company

ADEC is a not for profit organisation assisting people with a disability, their families and carers from diverse cultural backgrounds. The Aged Care program supports older people to live independently in their own homes for as long as they can. The program also supports their families and carers to access information about aged care, and assists the process of referrals to and between service providers via the My Aged Care website and the My Aged Care contact centre.

We are currently looking for passionate Aged Care Support Workers to join our team to provide quality support to clients in the North and Western suburbs of Melbourne.

Your new role

As an Aged Care Support Worker you will empower clients by delivering outstanding care. You will encourage individual client choice and aim to contribute to our clients health and well-being. This varied role ensures the clients care plan is followed to provide high-quality support in a safe manner.

Our Support Workers perform a variety of different tasks, including:

  • Assisting with personal care such as showering, grooming, dressing and feeding
  • Domestic assistance such as cooking, cleaning and washing
  • Transportation to appointments and providing social support
  • Utilising positive behaviour strategies
  • Maintenance of progress notes and record keeping

There are a variety of shifts available and we are looking for Aged Care Support Workers who are passionate and dependable to start as soon as possible.

What you’ll need to succeed

You’ll have a positive attitude with a nurturing nature and the ability to build rapport and engage with clients. You will be comfortable working with people from a range of disabilities and have a commitment to person centred care approaches.

Requirements:

  • Certificate III in Aged Care.
  • Current Level 2 First Aid and valid CPR Certificate.
  • Knowledge of the Commonwealth Home Support and NDIS programs.
  • Previous experience in the aged and disability fields in a comparable position.
  • Current Police and Working with Children’s Check
  • Ability to work without direct supervision, within guidelines and procedures
  • Hold a valid and current driving licence.
  • Access to a reliable vehicle and a mobile phone.

Desirable

  • The ability to speak and understand a second language.
  • Previous experience of working with persons from ethnic communities
  • Previous experience working with people with disability
