About the Position
We are excited to welcome a Speech Pathologist to join the Specialist Disability Support in Schools (SDSS) Team at our Wooloowin Branch in Brisbane. This role delivers mobile, trauma‑informed speech pathology support to schools, helping remove learning barriers for children impacted by trauma. You will build staff capability, strengthen relationships around each child, and work collaboratively with educators and professionals to enhance student outcomes. This is a great opportunity to contribute to the wellbeing of children and families.
- Level 6 SCHCADS Award.
- Salary range: $110,110 - $114,984 + Superannuation.
- Full-time, Government funded / maximum term contract opportunity until 30 December 2026
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a balanced student caseload and work collaboratively with educators and families to set meaningful goals and support positive outcomes for each child.
- Provide engaging training, guidance and consultations to school staff, helping build their confidence and capability in supporting children impacted by trauma.
- Partner with multidisciplinary teams, community organisations and key stakeholders to develop tailored case plans and ensure coordinated, child‑centred support.
- Maintain accurate documentation, contribute to supervision and team meetings, and uphold Act for Kids values through professional, ethical and collaborative practice.

About You
- Tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology.
- Eligibility for or membership Speech Pathology Australia
- Minimum two years’ experience working with children, young people and their families or at least two years’ experience working in similar roles.
- You have experience supporting children, young people and their families through individual or group therapy, and a genuine understanding of how trauma can shape a child’s world.
- You value cultural safety, teamwork and strengths‑based practice, and you communicate with warmth, clarity and professionalism while managing your time and caseload confidently.
Other Requirements
- Willingness to travel to various school locations to provide outreach therapy.
- Eligibility for a Working with Children Check or professional exemption.
- Current driver’s licence.
- Legal ability to work in Australia (proof of eligibility required).
