About the Position

We are excited to welcome a part-time [0.5FTE] Early Education Program Assistant to our Townsville Early Education Program team! In this role, you’ll help create a safe, playful, and trauma-informed environment where children aged 3–5 can grow emotionally, socially, and developmentally. Working alongside a teacher and allied health professionals, you’ll play a hands-on role in helping children and families feel supported, connected, and ready for the transition to school.

  • Level 3 SCHCADS Award.
  • Salary range: $76,377 - $81,907 (pro-rata) + Superannuation.
  • Part-time [0.5FTE], maximum term contract opportunity until 31 December 2026.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to a nurturing, play‑based learning environment by delivering the Early Years Learning Framework to a small group of children aged 3–5.
  • Foster a calm, supportive space where children feel safe, confident, and ready to explore through a play‑based, trauma‑informed approach.
  • Build warm, trusting relationships with families, walking alongside them to strengthen their children’s social, emotional and developmental foundations.
  • Partner closely with teachers, assistants, and allied health professionals to provide holistic, coordinated support that meets each child’s unique needs.

About You

  • Certificate III or above in Early Childhood, Education Support, Community Services, or similar vocational qualification.
  • At least two (2) years’ experience supporting children to engage in early learning environments, with a strong understanding of EYLF and play based learning in the early years.
  • Eligibility to work in Australia (proof of eligibility required), including holding or obtaining required checks (Working with Children Check or professional exemption).
  • Current driver’s licence.
