At ACSO, we look for people who believe in second chances, who share our values and are passionate about supporting forensic clients to re integrate back into the community. If this sounds like you, read on!
The Australian Community Support Organisation (ACSO) is a vibrant, values driven NFP, focused on partnering with Government and the community to co-design services that create real social change. We are an organisation with a bold vision to create a safe and inclusive community where prison truly is the last resort. Our purpose is to strengthen the wellbeing of our communities by advocating for and delivering services which divert people away from the justice system.
The Australian Community Support Organisation recognises the right to a safe and inclusive service without bias. ACSO is committed to the equitable treatment of its participants, employees and partners. We believe in humanity and celebrating the diverse voices of our community through leadership, practice and policy design, to honour and embrace diverse traditions, cultures and experiences of those we support and work alongside.
Reporting to the Team Leader - Clinical Services, under their general direction, the Senior Clinician (WA) is an important part of the small, supportive, multi-disciplinary Clinical Services team working across Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia, and nationally via telehealth. The team delivers high-quality, trauma-informed, evidence-based, and culturally responsive psychological, behavioural, and allied health services to clients with complex needs, including those with neurodevelopmental conditions and psychosocial disabilities and histories of offending behaviour, often in contexts involving restrictive practices.
The Senior Clinician (WA) delivers specialist behaviour support to the most complex and high-risk presentations in Western Australia, funded through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and other streams including Child Protection, Youth Justice and the Department of Communities. The role provides advanced clinical formulation; conducts comprehensive functional behavioural and forensic assessments; and develops highly individualised, trauma-informed Behaviour Support Plans. In addition, the practitioner delivers therapeutic and skill-building interventions to strengthen clients' functional, emotional and interpersonal capabilities, promoting positive behaviour change and improved wellbeing. Working closely with stakeholders, families and support teams, the role provides consultation, training and reflective practice to ensure behaviour support strategies are implemented consistently within a coordinated multidisciplinary framework.
Beyond direct service delivery, this role contributes to the development and strengthening of Clinical Services in Western Australia. In partnership with the Senior Manager and Team Leader, the Senior Clinician supports service development, quality improvement and the maintenance of high clinical standards. The role provides clinical supervision and mentoring to students and less experienced practitioners and delivers consultation and training across ACSO programs to strengthen organisational capability in responding to complex behaviours of concern.
