Purpose of the Service Coordinator role

As a Service Coordinator at Achieve Australia, your primary goal is to provide person-centered quality support services to people with a disability. You will manage the day-to-day operations of our Araluen Day Program. You will provide support to the team and will be involved in the design and implementation of daily activities.

Role Responsibilities

In this role, some of the key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate day to day operations of Day programs and community access for participants to ensure active participation.
  • Develop a program that includes a variety of activities to provide a safe and engaging environment for clients and staff that also complies with the organisation’s policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Programs must meet client interests, learning and development needs as well as the NDIS goals and all regulatory and legislative requirements.
  • Assists with the day-to-day financial operation of the services, including staffing ratios, client contribution to activities, managing petty cash using Vasco cards.
  • Contribute to budget setting, effectively managing operational workforce planning and resourcing by approving rosters and managing staff leave.
  • Manage a team of approximately 20 staff, creating and embedding a culture of continuous improvement, active support and client safeguarding. This includes ensuring staff are fully compliant and have appropriate skills to carry out their tasks safely.
  • Act as initial escalation contact for site team members.
  • Responsible for improving practices and culture to protect clients and other vulnerable people from harm and neglect, and help maximise positive client outcomes.
  • Ensure the timely provision of all mandatory reporting (including incident reports, CEO Notifiable reports, NDIS reportable incidents and WHS incidents) to meet the requirements of the Service Manager and General Manager.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Demonstrated experience of running a day program or other appropriate service for people with disabilities
  • Ability to be creative in designing activities to meet client goals and maximising engagement
  • Ability to work flexibly with colleagues within the division
  • Relevant qualifications (minimum Cert IV in Disability or Individual Support)
  • Sound interpersonal, role modelling and customer service skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and adapt to changing environments.
  • Understanding and commitment to the Disability Service Standards and WHS.
  • Understanding of human rights and the challenges facing those with a disability.
  • Current P2 Drivers Licence and above is a must.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all the time.
