Community Organiser - Brisbane

Australian Conservation Foundation

Are you an engaged and committed person who enjoys working in a collaborative team?

Are you passionate about applying your organising skills to Australia’s leading environmental organisation?

  • Join a supportive and energised team and let your organising, training and campaign skills shine in support of our important work protecting Australia’s environment.
  • Work to build real people power under a clear strategy for change toward a better world – one where we keep coal in the ground, harvest energy from the sun and wind and protect and support our living planet.
  • Permanent position with a salary of $85,298 per annum plus 10% superannuation and great working conditions!

The Organisation

The Australian Conservation Foundation is Australia’s national environment organisation – almost half a million people creating a world where forests, rivers, people and wildlife thrive.

A handful of people formed ACF 50 years ago when mining first threatened the Great Barrier Reef. Now the ACF community has grown into a powerful force for nature.

We bring together people from the community, government and business. Our community advocates against pollution and destruction, and for our living world. We hold decision-makers to account. We champion big ideas and find common ground with unlikely partners.

We love and protect the web of life right across our continent, from the Kimberley to the Reef, the Reef down the Great Dividing Range to Tasmania’s forests.

People power our campaigns. We are proudly independent, non-partisan and funded by donations from our community.

The Role

The role of Community Organisers is to build people power to achieve our long term vision for the future. Community Organisers recruit, train, develop and support volunteers and volunteer-led ACF Community groups to build long term power, take meaningful action on our campaigns and hold decision-makers accountable on our issues.

About You

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A deep commitment to, and experience in, community organising.
  • The ability to train, motivate and mentor people and groups to take meaningful action under our national strategy.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • An understanding of how to use digital organising tools to build organising to scale, including Nation Builder, Slack, Zoom.
  • A commitment to being a team player, and can collaborate, set and deliver outcomes as part of a team.

If this is you, we want to hear from you! Don’t miss this exciting opportunity.
