The Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) is a member-based organisation whose principal role is the training, assessment and professional development of emergency doctors for Australia and New Zealand.

The Position

As a senior member of the Policy team, your work in advocacy and policy development will make a real difference to health system reform, with a core purpose of addressing systematic challenges within Emergency Medicine and influencing healthcare outcomes for vulnerable and diverse populations within Australia and New Zealand.

Some key focuses of the role include implementing and coordinating advocacy campaigns or policy relating mental health, in addition to public health and disaster medicine, and Indigenous health.

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in public policy, public health or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated high-level conceptual and analytical skills in developing policy and advocacy documents.
  • Experience in finding and using data and research from a diverse range of disciplines (e.g. clinical sciences, epidemiology, health economics and political sciences) in policy development and advocacy.
  • Extensive knowledge of policy, legislative and political processes as they relate to the health sector.
  • Well-developed engagement and consultation skills including the ability to identify and liaise with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated planning, project management or campaigning experience.

Please note this is a full-time and permanent position, however, we are accepting part-time applications at 0.8FTE for the right candidate.
