Position summary

The Practice Manager is responsible for the leadership, supervision and professional development of AFG’s accounting team and for resource allocation to ensure the delivery of client work on time and on budget. Manager and mentor to our in-house team of bookkeepers, assistant accountants, and accountants, the Practice Manager also has a key role in the smooth and efficient onboarding of new clients.

The Practice Manager is responsible for ensuring the AFG outsourced service is delivered on time and on budget by maintaining appropriate staff levels and ensuring the accounting team has the skills and knowledge to complete their designated tasks. The Practice Manager is part of our senior management team and collaborates with AFG’s Account Managers and the accounting team to ensure work is scheduled to achieve client deadlines.

AFG’s Practice Manager ensures that our work is compliant with the obligations placed upon AFG by, for example, the Tax Practitioner’s Board, and that we are meeting the various compliance obligations for our clients. The Practice Manager also keeps us up to date with technology and industry best practice to ensure that we meet the emerging needs of non-profit organisations and are efficient in our work practices.

Accounting For Good is a Xero Advisor Certified Practice and our team includes qualified Chartered Accountants, Certified Practising Accountants and Xero Certified accountants and bookkeepers, ensuring that accounting and reporting are of the highest standard. Collaboration and delegation are key to our success - we plan ahead and schedule our work to ensure that we achieve client deadlines and that our hard-working team is well utilised but not burnt out.

Ideally, the successful applicant will have accounting expertise but this is not an accounting role: if you want to reconcile things and make journal entries, this is not the job for you.

AFG has a dedicated office in WeWork's newest Sydney hub at 320 Pitt Street, and we are currently working flexibly between the office and home.
