About Accountable Futures Collective

Accountable Futures Collective (AFC) is an intergenerational systems change initiative working to redefine and drive accountability to young people and future generations. AFC brings young people and adults together to solve the accountability void; what’s missing between the promises made to young people and their experience in reality.

About the Standards Project

The Standards Project is a youth-driven collaboration that is creating Standards for Accountability to Young People in order to transform organisations and systems that currently harm young people. 10 partners are collaborating to lead the Standards Project. The Youth Project Coordinator role sits within the Accountable Futures Collective team, which is one of the 10 organisations in the Standards Project.

Why Standards are needed

Current standards and ways of working with young people are outdated, inconsistent, and were never designed by young people themselves. We're done with watered-down "best practice" that cares more about rules than about real people. These Standards will be sharp, honest, and built on the real wisdom of young people who've experienced harmful systems firsthand.

Creating the Standards will be a five-year project where young people and trusted adults will come together to create Standards accountability to young people. The Standards Project will support young people to grow their authority and leadership, and the capability of adults to work intergenerationally.

Purpose of the Role

The Youth Project Coordinator will work to bring the Standards project to life, guided by young people and the project partners. The Youth Project Coordinator will report to and be supported by a team in AFC. This role will be central in supporting young people to lead the direction and development of the Standards. This role is ideal for someone who knows what it takes to share and work with lived experience in safe and meaningful ways, and someone who is hoping to support other young people to step into their power.
