Located in Port Macquarie, Many Rivers Regional Housing (Many Rivers) is a leading not-for-profit provider of Aboriginal community housing services, providing property management services for around 450 properties and support for the needs of tenants.

Reporting to the Manager Housing and Tenant Services you will be responsible for providing frontline housing services to the tenants and properties under Many Rivers management. The key objectives of the role include:

  • Deliver comprehensive and professional housing management services
  • Efficiently and accurately administer housing management issues and tenant queries 
  • Support effective asset management via monitoring quality repairs, maintenance and upgrades that represent value for money and maximise Aboriginal participation and procurement
  • Build strong, productive relationships with tenants and owning organisations by being responsive to their needs
  • Support tenants to sustain successful tenancies by working collaboratively across the teams at Many Rivers and with external partners 

To thrive in this role, you will be culturally sensitive with compassion, empathy and a genuine interest in meeting the needs of Aboriginal people. Resilience and the ability to meet deadlines are also essential, as is a high degree of professionalism, integrity and ethical behaviour.

If you also have:

  • Qualification/s in relevant discipline: property management, asset management, community development or willingness to obtain within 12 months.
  • Experience managing housing services and/or supporting tenants, preferably within community housing sector.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the NSW Residential Tenancy Act and community housing legislation 
  • Ability and willingness to travel (including overnight stays), a current NSW driver’s licence and ability to work effectively when unsupervised.
  • Proven experience in providing exceptional customer service and strong relationship management skills including conflict resolution.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills 
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities and high caseloads whilst maintaining quality of service delivery. 
  • Well-developed problem-solving including ability to recommend strategies for resolution/service improvement to management. 
  • A sound working knowledge of Microsoft programs and databases

The role is an Aboriginal designated position. You must identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander to apply under section 14 of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act 1977. Proof or confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage will be required from the successful applicant.

This position is a 12-month temporary contract, with the possibility of extension.

Appointment to this position will be subject to a National Police Check and a Working with Children Check (or vulnerable persons check).
