Family Preservation Caseworker - OOHC

Work for an organisation that builds and strengthens Aboriginal families and works to achieve the best possible outcome for Aboriginal children and young people in Out of Home Care. This organisation is seeking an experienced Family Preservation Caseworker for its OOHC team.

This role will involve:

  • Complete high-level court reports
  • Work intensively with vulnerable families to meet their case plan goals to ensure their children remain at home
  • Maintaining regular, effective and meaningful contact with children and young people, families and key stakeholders
  • Ensuring that case plan goals are regularly reviewed
  • Participate in the on-call roster
  • Advocate for Aboriginal people, children and young people and their birth families

The requirements for this role include:

  • Relevant Tertiary qualifications – Diploma or Degree accepted
  • Knowledge and understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal communities, families and children
  • Knowledge of child protection legislation and policy/procedures in relation to recognition and response to child protection issues
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours if required and to be on call on occasion
