My client is a well-known not-for-profit that is leading the way in youth homelessness services and food relief. They have developed an amazing support program for young people between 16-25 years, including young parents that is unique in style and delivery. The program includes living skills, brokerage, mentoring, and outreach support to young people at risk of or experiencing homelessness in the Greater Western Sydney area.

As an experienced, Youth Caseworker, this is your opportunity to be part of a small team of seven, who are truly dedicated and inspiring individuals who love what they do and have the freedom and support to do it extremely well. Joining this amazing team, means you have the opportunity to get creative, to be innovative, to have a voice and be heard. In this role you are working with young people, one on one and you will have the opportunity to deliver fun and cool, educational programs at schools. You will be provided with in-depth training and ongoing support from management, to ensure you feel comfortable in delivering the educational programs.

The role is part-time (4 days per week) and the organisation has a hotdesking environment, as they have offices/hubs in Doonside and Castle Hill. You have the ability to work from one or both offices, the choice is yours. There is loads of parking, which you will need as you will be driving your own car and be reimbursed for mileage at a generous rate. No weekend or on-call work.

What you need to be successful:

  • Experience working with and supporting young people with complex backgrounds
  • Knowledge and experience working from a trauma informed approach
  • Knowledge in child and youth development, homelessness, safety planning & youth mental health
  • Experience in delivering casework support
  • An understanding of the culture and strengths-based practices
  • Demonstrated networking and advocacy skills with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Ideally you will have experience in delivering groups or training
  • Experience in managing crisis situations with a risk-adverse approach

Checks & Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Welfare or related areas
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • NSW Driver's License
  • Evidence of COVID vaccinations and booster vaccinations
  • Access to comprehensive insured vehicle
  • First Aid/CPR (or the organisation will provide the training for you)
