THE ROLE
The Pathways to Independence Practitioner provides intensive pre-employment support to address multiple and complex barriers to employment for young women 18 – 24 years in the Campbelltown and Camden LGA’s through education, training and support. The role will work to develop practical work and life skills that support young women to gain confidence, build connections and create pathways to work.
In addition, the Pathways to Independence Practitioner will support enrollment and completion of Certificate I in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways training whilst maintaining key referral pathways with local community, job services and youth focused agencies.
ABOUT YOU
- Ensure effective delivery of Whitelion’s Pathways to Independence Program (PIP) in line with contractual requirements and organisational outcomes.
- Engage and asses’ young women into the PIP program, providing case work support to ascertain vocational and non-vocational barriers to employment and the pathways needed to overcome them.
- In line with program delivery, support young women to enroll into and complete vocational and employability skills training to ensure job readiness, career exploration and development of employment pathway goals.
- Develop, deliver and review practical pre-employment activities for individuals/groups, designed to strengthen participants' employment opportunities. Giving every advantage
- Develop and build strong supportive relationships with key stakeholders to assist with suitable initiatives including but not limited to Job Services, Youth Services and Government agencies within the Campbelltown and Camden LGA’s.
- Recording and maintenance of program data in line with Whitelion Youth’s wellbeing and outcomes framework.
- Other duties as required.
Experience
- Demonstrated experience in implementing projects that have consistently achieved contract performance targets
- Experience in working with young people from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Understanding of complex barriers keeping young women out of employment and pathways needed to support them in becoming work ready.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering pre employment and life skills group training and targeted individualised case work support.
- Ability to work individually with vulnerable young people to develop realistic and achievable individual employment plans.
- The ability to work collaboratively and innovatively within a team.
- Strong administrative skills, record-keeping skills and computer literacy skills; experience with database and client management systems.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and across other sites when required.
Qualifications
- Current Working with Children card
- Willingness to undergo a Whitelion Police Check at employment and every 3 years thereafter
- Relevant qualifications or minimum 2 years experience in Youth Work, Community Services, Youth Employment Services, or related field.
- Current Driver's License
- Access to own vehicle
