The Family Services Peer Program Worker will be able to draw on their own lived experience in a caring role to provide support to family members and/or carers of participants to address key development areas that support their: social skills, leadership, decision making, teamwork, healthy lifestyle, community service, responsibility, self-identity, self-esteem and resilience.
As our new Family Services Peer Program Worker, you will be engaging with families, friends and carers in the program, getting to know their experiences and, as appropriate, offering support around key areas of challenge. As part of this, you will support our participants through developing tailored recovery plans to incorporate their own individual goals and, in line with this, connect them with appropriate, practical supports available through Wellways or within the wider community.
A key outcome will be supporting the participant to identify and nurture natural supports that sustain recovery and assist in the development of self-management skills.
This position can be based in either our Epping or Mitcham locations. As this program operates out of both, willingness to visit the other location as part of this role is desirable.
