About the program

Wesley Supported Independent Living Program supports young people to develop their independent living skills and transition from the Out of Home Care system.

As the casual Youth Worker, you will provide support to young people in a variety of living situations including living in their own apartments and in shared housing.

Initially, the primary focus of this role will be to work as part of a team providing 24 hr support to a young person in the Penrith area. Set shifts would be preferred for this initial engagement. Further hours would be dependent on requirements at the time.

About the role

We are currently seeking a pool of casual staff who will provide support for young people transition out of the out of home care system. The role will specifically support young people to develop their independent living skills and manage private rental properties as well as support young people in a supported shared house environment. This includes, but is not limited to, supporting and teaching young people to clean, cook, shop, budget and other general everyday living skills.

Hours of work are flexible with most shifts being afternoon/evening shifts. 4-8 hours per week.

Essential skills/knowledge

  • Completed or working towards Certificate IV in Youth Work or similar field
  • Flexible working hours including shift work, weekends and sleep overs
  • Current unrestricted Driver’s Licence
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Current Working with Children’s Check.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in Out of Home Care
  • Previous employment in Youth Work
  • Ability to work as a part of a team and independently.

Remuneration

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 Level 3 Pay Point 1.
