The United Workers Union is seeking to employ a talented UX Designer to join our innovation team and help shape the future of our digital products. This is an exciting opportunity to join a multi-disciplinary and multi-project team in the Union, focused on the digital experience for members and prospective members.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing web applications and digital products. They will work closely with a product manager, developers and stakeholders to build and iterate a member portal for 150,000 members. As well as conduct research and design for other digital products aimed to appeal to young workers, as part of the union’s Generation United project.

The successful candidate will be someone who loves to experiment, innovate, learn and develop. They will enjoy the freedom of being driven by the data - to test and trial design solutions that contribute to the modernisation of the union movement.

This work can be done from any capital city in Australia, however candidates living in Sydney will be highly regarded. This is a full-time permanent position.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Proven experience as a UX Designer, with a strong portfolio showcasing your work.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch, Adobe XD, Figma, or similar software.
  • Strong understanding of usability and accessibility principles.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, agile development environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, and ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Team player who loves an experimental environment where multi-skilled individuals thrive.
  • Understanding of and commitment to the values and principles of the Australian Union Movement.

To perform this job, you will also be required to have or obtain and maintain:

  • Right of Entry Permits
  • Immunisation against COVID-19 or have a medical exemption

KEY RESPONSiBILITIES

  • User Research: Conduct user research to understand user behaviours, needs, and pain points. Use this data to inform design decisions and drive user-centric solutions.
  • Information Architecture: Define the information hierarchy, navigation structures, and content organization to ensure users can easily find what they need.
  • Wireframing and Prototyping: Create wireframes, interactive prototypes, and mockups to visualize and test design concepts, iterating as needed.
  • UI Design: Develop visually appealing and cohesive user interface designs, considering branding guidelines and user experience best practices.
  • Usability Testing: Plan and conduct usability testing sessions to gather user feedback and refine designs based on user insights.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including researchers, developers, content producers, digital marketers and communicators, to successful implementation of design solutions.

REMUNERATION

An attractive salary package will be offered to the successful applicant, which will include:

  • Salary of between $93,000 and $110,000
  • 16% superannuation
  • 6 weeks annual leave plus 25% leave loading
