About The Kirby Institute:

The Kirby Institute is a world-leading health research institute at UNSW Sydney. We work to eliminate infectious diseases, globally. Our specialisation is in developing health solutions for the most at-risk communities. Putting communities at the heart of our research, we develop tests, treatments, cures and prevention strategies that have the greatest chance of success.

The MRFF funded Pathogen Genomics, H2Seq initiative is taking on the challenge of setting up a national network for the collection and data analysis of HIV and Hepatitis C virus (HCV) genomes across the country. The network aims to combine molecular diagnostics, epidemiology, and public health to utilise HIV and HCV viral sequencing for improved community inclusive public health responses. Funded by the Commonwealth, this work is being conducted through a partnership between academia, health services and their public health units, public health laboratories, community organisations and industry, across each jurisdiction in Australia.

Why Your Role Matters:

As the H2Seq Project Manager, you will play a key role in realising the strategic goals of developing a nationally co-ordinated approach to the goal of eliminating HIV and HCV in Australia. You will be responsible for the co-ordination of the project and its aims and milestones. You will be responsible for the co-ordination of the project’s working groups for data management, analysis systems, sequencing procedures, ethics, data security, individual privacy and the stigma associated with these infections.

In this position, you will be responsible for the co-ordination and management of significant financial and operational resources. This position plays a critical role supporting the senior leadership of H2Seq to successfully deliver on strategic objectives in data collection, analysis, and provision of synthesised data sets to those responsible for public health interventions.
