Join our team! We are looking for a graduate that is keen to apply their curiosity and data skills to pressing child health research questions, to provide insights that help us achieve our vision of Happy Healthy Kids.
In this position, you will take the lead analytical role (while closely mentored by experienced Biostatisticians) to help progress research projects from a broad range studies spanning the Institute's research focus areas. You will be exposed to both small and large studies, involved at both the design and analysis stage, and develop a range of key Biostatistics consultative skills along the way. You will develop expertise in understanding the nuanced relationship between a health research question, the data available to address that question, the correct methodology to be applied to answer that question, and how to effectively communicate the findings (obtained results) from that analysed carried out.
This is full time position for 2 years. Salary will be between $50,000 to $60,000 per annum with access to generous salary packaging. The successful candidate will be based at Telethon Kids Institute within Perth Children's Hospital.
In a supportive, consultative manner, this role will see the Biostatistician liaise with researchers (with varying research experience (including students, professors, clinicians)) to understand their research projects and then carry out analysis (typically selecting the appropriate statistical methodology to apply) and assist in the reporting of results (writing peer-reviewed manuscripts). Data will present itself in a variety of forms, requiring varying levels of processing prior to analysis; data may be small (trial data), large (population-based studies), cross-sectional (from a survey), longitudinal (clinical register) or take on any other form. The successful candidate will build a good rapport with researchers and be agile in their approach to providing statistical support.
Degree majoring in statistics, maths, or other relevant discipline or equivalent experience
The successful candidate will be asked to provide a satisfactory National Police Check, a Working with Children Check and Proof of working rights in Australia prior to commencement.
