About the Role:

Our Internal Communications team have an outstanding permanent part time (15.2 hours per week) opportunity for a Journalist /Publications Writer to join their Blackburn, Melbourne team.

Reporting to the Publications Manager the successful candidate will have the opportunity to research and write content for The Salvation Army's (TSA) faith based magazines, reports and online channels as well as editing and proofreading.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather news worthy stories for inclusion in TSA publications, reports, online and social media channels
  • Prepare all components for stories (eg. research ideas, interviews, fact checking, writing) for the magazines and associated online channels
  • Secure release forms for all subjects interviewed, photographed, filmed in support of content published
  • Attend events for reporting and information gathering for stories as required
  • Proofreading duties as part of the proofreading process

About you:

  • Tertiary qualifications in media/communications (Bachelor of Arts or Communications and/or equivalent industry experience)
  • 3 years' experience as a journalist or similar
  • Insight and understanding of TSA's procedures and operations is an advantage
  • Exposure to the print process
