About SSA

Sustainable Screens Australia (SSA) is founded on a vision to transform the Australian screen production industry into one which integrates sustainability into everyday practices. Creating screen content should not be at the expense of the planet, so we are working to build capacity at all levels of the industry to reduce our collective environmental footprint in line with science-based targets.

SSA is driven by a passionate group of screen practitioners who are mobilising our industry to address the climate emergency. An industry working group meets on a bi-monthly basis with representatives from screen agencies, production companies, broadcasters and other industry organisations.

Note: Position is Voluntary at this stage.

About the Operations Coordinator Role

SSA are looking to recruit a dynamic, passionate and organised Operations Coordinator to support the SSA management committee. The job will involve general administration including maintaining communications, managing calendars and meetings as well as working closely with the SSA team to establish the organisation and roll out the tools and resources to support the industry. SSA is currently volunteer run, the job is part time, remote and SSA encourages applications from First Nations, Diverse & underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply from all over Australia.

The role requires someone with strong initiative, attention to detail and willingness to learn in a collaborative and growing team.

As a part of the Sustainable Screens Operations team, you’ll be contributing to an exciting shift in the screen industry within Australia and work with stakeholders across the screen industry ecosystem, including government agencies, production companies, broadcasters and other industry bodies to effect real world change in a growing organisation. We are looking for someone who can commit to a minimum of 4-5 months work with the possibility of leading to a paid role as the organisation grows.

Key Responsibilities:

  • General administrative and system team support
  • Schedule meetings and oversee the SSA calendar
  • Collaborate with the SSA secretary to create agendas and update RSVP lists
  • Participate in meetings and take minutes
  • Research tasks and collating information
  • Social media updates
  • Maintaining online systems

Key Selection Criteria:

Essential:

  • Passion and interest in climate change and sustainability
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to dedicate approximately 6-10 hours per week
  • Experience with G Suite and Outlook
  • Highly organised and great attention to detail
  • Good time management and ability to take initiative
  • Reliable and consistent
  • Ability to investigate and analyse complex issues and to provide sound in-depth judgement

Desirable:

  • Experience in a volunteer run organisation
  • Basic Knowledge, skills or interest in governance, fundraising
  • Interest in or knowledge of screen production
  • Skills in graphic design
  • Interest, understanding or knowledge of social media strategy and management.
