Stretch-A-Family (SAF) is an accredited not-for-profit organisation based in Sydney, NSW. SAF has been providing out-of-home care for young people since 1977. We are an accredited Fostering and Community Placement Agency and a Residential Care Provider for 0 – 25-year-old children and young people who need out-of-home care. As a lead industry provider, SAF delivers services with a strong therapeutic focus and is held in high esteem in the sector for achieving quality client outcomes.

About the Role:

Join a team of skilled and passionate caseworkers to deliver a foster care program. You deliver support through our therapeutic model and make a real change in young people's lives.

• Provide support across Sydney to support foster carers in the community and in their homes;
• Work in partnership with all SAF programs to deliver high quality standards;
• Reduce the risk of harm and increase the safety of children and young people;
• Work collaboratively with other services to achieve the best outcomes for children and young people.

About You:

• Degree in Social or Welfare Work or related discipline;
• The ability to deliver quality care in line with therapeutic principles;
• Significant casework experience with children, young people and their families and experience working with foster carers;
• Highly developed report writing, assessment and analytical skills;
• An understanding of children, young people and their impact of their abuse upon their overall development and the ability to empathise, build appropriate professional relationships and engage with them;
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team;
• Sound knowledge of issues surrounding Child Protection and Out of Home Care including knowledge of the Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act 1998, corresponding Regulations and Out of Home Care Standards;
• Experience liaising and consulting with community agencies and other professionals;
• Own reliable and comprehensively insured motor vehicle (allowance paid) and current NSW Driver License.
