Reporting to the Safety and Injury Management Coordinator, this role provides assistance in delivering a wide range of occupational health and safety programs and initiatives. The purpose of this position is to assist efficient workplace health and safety management across Nulsen group. Experience within the disability sector would be highly regarded.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Nulsen’s Safety and Injury Management Coordinator to oversee all aspects of workplace health and safety and provide sound advice to all departments of the organisation
- Prepare reports, records, statistics and other documentation to ensure the provision and maintenance of necessary information and record systems for Nulsen
- Assist ongoing review and enhancement of Workplace Health and Safety policies, procedures and guidelines
- Conduct periodic workplace inspections and risk assessments as directed
- Coordinate treatment and attend appointments to assist in return to work
- Develop and maintain return to work programs and all associated workers compensation paperwork
- Update management and internal departments on the progress of claims
- Develop strategies for injury claim resolution
Job Requirements:
- An appropriate qualification in workplace health and safety management
- Experience within a service delivery environment
- Experience in workers compensation claims management
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills in order to develop and maintain effective relationships, work with others in a constructive and collaborative manner, and to be able to influence and negotiate
- Strong analysis, project management and report writing skills
- Sound organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects to meet deadlines
Desirable
- Experience in delivering training to staff in environment, health and safety risk identification, reduction and management
- Safety Representative training and experience
- Previous experience in a safety role within the disability or health care sector
