About the role

• Provide leadership, direction and support to the Natural Systems team to ensure that financial and performance targets are met, ensuring delivery of planned programs and projects and alignment with Shire values.
• Develop strategy, policy and planning recommendations for best practice protection of biodiversity for the Mornington Peninsula Shire.
• Monitor the delivery of the Natural Systems Team’s programs including bushland management, fire risk reduction works, community education, volunteer management, grant programs and strategic projects.
• Negotiate and liaise with customers in the resolution of complex or contentious issues.
• Ensure that the team has in-depth knowledge of local work area operations and requirements to enable tailored advice and solutions.
• Provide support to the Manager Infrastructure Services as required with a focus on delivering outcomes for the Infrastructure Services Unit.
