About the role

headspace Box Hill in partnership with Mind aims to promote and facilitate improvements in the mental health, social wellbeing and economic participation of young people aged 12-25 years residing in the Eastern suburbs. Services in this youth friendly space are delivered across four core streams - primary health care, mental health, alcohol and other drug (AOD) and social/vocational to improve access for young people to mental health programs. 

We are seeking an experienced, high performing Service Manager for a permanent, full time opportunity to work in the Box Hill area. You will provide strong leadership, direct all aspects of the program and ensure a high standard of service delivery to support young people work towards their recovery goals and enjoy a positive future. The Service Manager will also be accountable for staff management and achievement of service performance and budget targets.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of high quality services for young people, their families and friends.
  • Coach and mentor effective practice to staff working with young people, provide support to families and carers, and plan and deliver group work.
  • Support young people to return to their community, live independently and enjoy a meaningful life through a staged approach to recovery.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations including rostering, planning budget expenditure and delivery of agreed service performance targets.
  • Collaborate with a range of services and the community to ensure a co-ordinated, integrated response to the needs of young people.

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary degree qualifications in Mental Health, Peer Work, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
  • Expertise in working with young people with mental health issues, complex needs and interacting with families, friends and carers.
  • Proven ability to positively influence, effectively build and coach a team to achieve high quality service outcomes.
  • Capability to implement therapeutic, recovery-oriented frameworks and practices including risk mitigation, trauma informed care and family inclusive practice.
  • Strong knowledge of mental health service delivery, service development and design, financial management, budget control and reporting.
