Ready to harness your retail know-how to make a positive impact on youth homelessness?
This Store Manager opportunity sits in the sweet spot where retail meets social enterprise. You’ll put your sales, merch and leadership skills to good use, running our flagship HoMie apparel store in Fitzroy.
When we say we’re a label for the streets, we mean it.
We’re pretty passionate about what we do, but we’ll try and keep the sales pitch brief. 100% of our profits go towards achieving our mission: supporting young people affected by homelessness or hardship.
We’re currently running two key programs to equip young people with the skills, confidence and experiences to be more work ready and better prepared for the future. So your store will be staffed by a mixture of experienced team members and young people from our programs. You’ll be supporting young people to gain meaningful work experience as they work towards their career goals. This role is for a retail professional - we’ve got a ton of support mechanisms and training in place for the program side of things, so you can focus on smashing targets and the day-to-day running of the store.
So far we’ve supported over 2040 young people through our programs. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved so far, but we’re equally excited about what’s still to come.
You care about social issues and streetwear fashion but the bottom line is, you’re a seasoned retail manager who’s obsessed with creating amazing customer experiences. Naturally, that means you can speak to all the nuts and bolts of store management comfortably in an interview.
Plus:
Our vibrant Fitzroy store is at the heart of what we do. It’s a place where community is fostered. Where young people have an empathetic employer and where customers connect with our purpose and mission.
And because our store is one of our key sources of income, this is your chance to use your innovation and creativity to increase sales, so we can keep powering our impact-driven programs. That’s why if you’ve got great ideas to take our store to the next level, we’ll back you to bring them to life.
We’re actively working towards a fairer society. And we know that the diversity of thought, identity and lived experience on our team is essential to helping us achieve this. Internally, this means we’ve established a Diversity and Inclusion Committee, which hold us accountable to our goals. We encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, people with disability and applicants from all cultural backgrounds to apply. We also welcome applications from people with lived experience of homelessness.
Evidence of working rights within Australia.
Willingness to complete a Working with Children check.
Due to the existing structure of the building, the store has 4 steps at the entrance and is not currently wheelchair accessible. This is an ongoing challenge we are striving to address.
As a values driven organisation, we want to know about you and why you are interested in being part of the HoMie team! Please include a cover letter, resume and be sure to respond explicitly to the Key Selection Criteria below in your application.
