HoMie is a streetwear clothing social enterprise that uses 100% of its profits to provide brand-new clothing, training and job opportunities to young people affected by homelessness or hardship.
Through our two social impact programs, The HoMie Pathway Alliance and VIP Shopping Days, HoMie supports young people affected by homelessness or hardship to equip them with skills, confidence and experiences to be more work ready and better prepared for their future.
The HoMie VIP Day is an opportunity for young people affected by hardship to come and be our VIP Shoppers for the day. Young people are invited into our Fitzroy Store to shop for brand new clothing items of their choice, access haircuts and beauty services and lunch with the crew. The aim of the VIP Day is to increase confidence, social inclusion and provide a fun day out for young people and their support workers.
The HoMie Pathway Alliance is an 8 month accredited Retail Internship where young people study to complete a Certificate III in Retail Operations, gain on the floor retail experience and personal and professional development. This is a purposefully small and intensive program supporting young people with their employment and education goals, to kick start their working life.
With an impact lead approach, HoMie has supported over 1500 young people through our programs. We have a strong organisation wide commitment to creating positive outcomes for young people and meaningful, long lasting change.
This is an opportunity to work in a fast paced, youth focused start up environment with a positive work culture. As a social enterprise generating our own funding, we are forward thinking, innovative and flexible. We are highly supportive of our team, so if you have a great idea, we will do whatever we can to make it happen.
The main role of the Programs coordinator is to support young people affected by homelessness or hardship to achieve their employment and education goals through mentorship, facilitation, empathetic leadership and tailored support. You will work closely with our interns during the 8 month retail internship and facilitate action plans between the young person, their employer and their key support worker from partnering organisations.
As a member of a small, passionate and energetic team, you will have exceptional skills in building and maintaining relationships with colleagues and participants. Working closely with all stakeholders, you will use your specialised training and skills to support not just our participants, but our retail partners as well.
The Programs Coordinator will also facilitate group activities and implement program strategy. This includes co-running workshops, taking groups on excursions and facilitating the completion of learning modules. The role requires a high level of organisation and planning, as well as strong communication and leadership skills.
We work with young people from diverse backgrounds who are affected by homelessness or hardship and endeavour to create a safe space for marginalised groups. A successful applicant will be expected to demonstrate experience in working and/or knowledge of driving social inclusion for young people from diverse backgrounds. The programs coordinator will work across the HoMie Pathway Alliance and VIP Days, and report to the Social Impact Manager.
